If you’re planning to put your home on the market in the near future, the last thing you’re likely to be thinking about is limescale.

However, it could pay to consider how you can remove the buildup of limescale in your home, with one property expert claiming that this could help you find a buyer more quickly.

Speaking to Homes and Property, head of Savills south west London Robin Chatwin explained that sellers need to consider a range of things about their home, including its cleanliness and the water pressure in the bathroom, before they start doing viewings.

“Buyers often want to check the water pressure of the shower so remove any limescale that might have built up. It’s an easy job but can make a big difference,” he asserted.

There’s a tip in there for anyone who’s noticed their water pressure getting weaker, not just those putting their homes on the market. If you find that your shower is particularly susceptible to this problem, you may want to consider installing a water softener to help remove some of the minerals that are common in hard tapwater areas.

Having a water softener will also help you keep other parts of your home cleaner, with taps, kitchen worktops, sinks, draining boards and splashbacks the other areas where limescale can build up.

Going back to anyone selling their home, it’s important to clean everywhere thoroughly before viewings. Other advice from property experts includes opening the windows on warm days to let fresh air circulate, and cleaning windows to ensure people can get a good view of the neighbourhood.
